Introduction:
Josh and Jennie will open the lesson with a brief introduction to Harvest LIVE 2022.
Activity: Parts of the plant
They will explain the different parts of the plant and set students a sorting activity to decide which parts of a plant various food products are made from.
Subject knowledge:
Jennie will introduce students to Farmer Hannah who will explain how she grows her cereal crops (wheat and barely) and show us how her combine harvester works.
Activity: World’s biggest combine harvester
Back in the studio, Josh and Jennie will teach everyone some actions for each stage of the combine harvesting process and all the children watching from around the world will complete them together to form the world’s biggest combine harvester.
Activity: Wheat detectives
Josh and Jennie will share some of the wheat detective work that your students have been completing.
Questions and answers
Farmer Hannah will join us in the studio to answer your students’ questions. BUTTON.
