Join us for Science Farm LIVE 2023!

Welcome Back!

After the success of Science Farm LIVE 2022, we are inviting you to join us again to celebrate British Science Week with three new, free and curriculum-aligned Live Lessons from NFU Education.

This year’s lessons will take your learners on an adventure from the very bottom of the sea, all the way to outer space to explore three puzzling questions linked to the British Science Week 2023 theme of ‘connections’:

How are tractors connected to space?

How are pigs connected to jumbo jets?

And how are sheep connected to seaweed?

Key Stage 1

How are tractors connected to space? Why are tractor wheels so big? And why is the tractor the most important machine on a farm?

Join us to meet Farmer Eveey to answer these questions and learn about the different parts of a tractor, the materials they are made from and why each material has been chosen for each job. We’ll then discover how Eveey’s clever tractors drive themselves and all the other important jobs they do.

Lower Key Stage 2

How are pigs connected to jumbo jets? How are pigs helping the environment? And what on Earth is a pig dog?

Join us to meet Flavian the pig farmer and his clever pig dog, Rex, and learn how they look after their team of pigs to keep them happy and healthy. We’ll be learning all about how pigs both affect and are affected by their environment and we’ll hopefully get to meet the newest arrivals on the farm as soon as they are born.

Upper Key Stage 2

How are sheep connected to seaweed? How is wool connected to outer space? And why does King Charles think that wool is a wonder fabric?

Join us on a journey from the depths of the English Channel to a NASA space craft to discover why wool is a material worthy of royal approval. We’ll be learning about properties of materials while discovering where wool comes from, witnessing a live sheep shearing and meeting the scientists who are inventing innovative new ways that wool can solve a huge range of real-life problems.

Go Interactive!

Our lessons include downloadable curriculum-linked teaching resources to use before, during and after the live lessons and there will be lots of opportunities for children to interact with our expert speakers.
